This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko 90100CNB Nylon Brush Door Bottom Sweep with 90° retrainer.
This is a very elegant solution because this conceals itself under the door once installed.
The 90100 represents that this intended for installation in a hollow metal door, specifically in the bottom inverted channel.
There is an image below this video showing everything important dimensionally about this item.
There is an overall height of 1-1/4″ (from the top of the extrusion to the bottom of the bristle).
That gives you a 1/4″ of extrusion and 1″ of bristle.
The width of the aluminum is 1″.
Typical undercut on a steel door is 3/4″.
Let’s assume you are going to use a 1/2″ threshold.
You’d be dealing with a 1/4″ of space.
An inverted bottom channel varies with manufacturers.
You’ll want to determine the height of your inverted channel before you determine that this sweep is the best way to go.
You have to install this sweep before you hang the door.
Make sure you determine the undercut of the door, the height of the threshold, the inside cavity of the inverted channel and then realize that you’re going to have 1-1/4″ from the top to the bottom of this sweep.
This is available in the clear finish as you can see here, also in dark bronze and gold.
However, since this is mostly concealed you’ll probably never see the aluminum, although in certain applications you might.
If you order the clear finish you’ll receive the gray brush.
You’ll receive the black brush with dark bronze and gold.
These bristles are available separately as well.
You can give the bristle a little crimp at the end so it can’t slide on its own.
Screws are included (#6 x 3/4″).
Another thing to take into account is if you have a 3ft door the inside cavity of the inverted channel certainly isn’t 3 ft, it’s going to be around 35-1/2″, a little more or less.
It’s recommended that you order the item to the exact size.
Available in several different lengths as well.
If you have need for a custom length by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicating in the comment field what size you’d like for us to cut the material back to.
The reason for that is if you had to cut his 36″ piece down to 32″, you’d eliminate that slotted hole and be forced to drill another one.
Slotted holes are tough to drill.
The slotted holes are nice to have because they allow you to have some lateral adjustment once on the door.
If you order a custom length we’ll not only locate the holes in the proper dimension from the edge, but also the proper center to center as well.
