How to remove, clean, and reinstall the throttle body on a 4.2 inline 6 trailblazer.
This procedure is usually done if the engine idles rough or stalls with the a/c or defrost on AFTER the battery has been disconnected.
I also show an alternate method for resetting the pcm. (I found this tip in a post by mwfaith1971 on trailvoy)
Update 3/1/12 – Frequently asked questions:
Q- why do you pull those fuses?
A- to reset the pcm WITHOUT disconnecting the battery
Q- why don’t you disconnect the battery?
A- that could potentially cause hvac actuator failure, moreso in the older ones like my 03…YOU can reset the pcm however you want to in yours:)
Q- can I pull the fuses and then clean the throttle body?
Edit 7/2014 – Sorry looks like I have to close comments on this one. Too many peeps trying to promote their shitty channels and giving horrible advice. I’ve probably done this procedure more times then all of you assholes combined so I think I know what the fuck I’m talking about. Thanks for letting me know how much I suck, 169,000 peeps will tell you otherwise.
3th installment on how to install Tufdek waterproof vinyl decking – installing flashing.
Before installing Tuf-Clad flashing it is recommended to plane or sand the deck edge, which allows the deck flashing to be level or lower than the deck surface. This helps to prevent water from damming against the flashing and backing up on the deck. You can see here that the flashing is flush with the deck surface and tilting towards the outside edge, which is optimal. This shows the Tuf-Clad flashing being trimmed to fit around the deck post and then nailed to the deck surface. We are using an air nailer with galvanized nails but you can use a hammer to do the same thing. The nails are applied close together to prevent any buckling or movement of the flashing due to temperature changes. Here the installer is welding small vinyl decking patch over the joint and the flashing to prevent water from getting through the flashing joint. This can be done with a hot air welder a Tuf-Weld liquid seaming cement. You can make the patches from scrap pieces of Tufdek vinyl decking. Apply a vinyl decking patch to all joints and corners of the PCV metal flashing. If there is a gap between the deck plywood and the house wall it is recommended to install flashing to help keep the vinyl decking from sagging into the opening. Here the installer is nailing galvanized flashing to cover the gap.
