Hello. Today I’m going to show you how
to dismantle and put back together an old
pine wardrobe. You need one of these, and
what we do first, open one of the doors.
Now these were on tapered pieces, kind of
like that, and these are slightly tapered
as well, so first of all, just knock that
away. Put that somewhere safe. Then you
can lift up the corner and remove the door
because these doors are located on pins,
top and bottom. Put that over there. Then
go to the other side. Do the same, just
knock that away. And that comes
[inaudible]. Again, just lift the top up
and remove the door. Then we’ve got the
top piece here, which I’m going to attempt
to take off myself, but it’s best if you
have two people. Don’t put a lot of weight
inside if you’re on your own. Then go to
one side, and again, knock away one
of these pieces. Lift the door off.
If you’re doing it yourself, make sure
when you’ve lifted the door off that
the back piece is solid where it is.
If this falls over, it can damage the
bottom. Then, on this wardrobe, there’s
just one big back piece, as you will see
here in a minute. On most wardrobes
I sell, there’s usually two or three
pieces, usually three pieces. Put that
safely down there. It’s actually,
sometimes, a good idea to mark inside
the wardrobes with just pieces of chalk,
to show which piece goes where,
if you’re unsure. Lift that and
there you go, all dismantled.
I’ll put it back together.
You take the first side piece
put it on the base and these just slot
into place. And then get your piece there.
You don’t have to hit it very hard, just
when it feels solid, then that’s done.
Then get your back piece or back
pieces, if there a few. If there are a few
back pieces, obviously, start from that
side and just work along. That will slot
in the bottom and slot in the side. Just
give it a tap. Get the other side piece
and slot in the bottom, and that slots in
the back nicely, and the other one,
and tap that up. Now I’ll just try and put
the top on myself, so this could be funny.
These, again, they slot in all around,
that’s gone in nicely. Sometimes, it takes
a bit of fiddling, because the back might
not be level in line at the back, so you
just need to wiggle that in and out
sometimes. Now the doors, a slightly
tricky bit if you’re on your own.
Now that was the…
Obviously, make sure the doors
are the right way around.
That is right around, right, cool. On the
doors, you’ve got the pin, top and bottom
again, and you’ve got the holes there, top
and bottom. If you get on one knee,
you can see to locate the bottom pin in
the bottom hole, then lift this up gently,
that’s it and it’s locked in. Make doubly
sure that these are in the holes,
the correct holes, otherwise, you’ll have
problems later. Very important,
when you’ve got one door on, make
sure you put this on straightaway.
Otherwise, if you lift the top
of the other side
to put the other door on, and that
isn’t in, that door will fall out.
It’s actually probably quite a good
idea just to close that door
while you’re fiddling around with
the other one. That’s located
at the bottom. That’s located on
the top, and that’s on. Just go around,
double check that it’s pinched up nicely
and you’re there. Now, when you put
your wardrobe together, you see the
levels of the doors are the same.
And they actually…they’re opening,
opening, it’s just rubbing slightly on the
bottom, but that’s actually okay. I’m
happy with that. Sometimes you’ll find
when you put your wardrobe
together, the top doesn’t line up.
That means your floor’s not level.
When I lift that up that, that just moves
slightly up and down. If your floor’s not
level, then you’ll have to wedge
underneath one or other feet.
That’s it. That is your wardrobe.
