This video is to bring you a closer look at the National Guard A626A. This is a perimeter seal that a lot of people actually prefer this sort of angled brush type. People or contractors that spend a lot of their time installing doors, like I’ve got clients, locksmiths, handyman type outfits, people who do door installations and spend a lot of time with condo associations as their client base, they like this sort of angled style because they have found that it is the type of weather-stripping that is both effective but does not present an inordinate obstacle to the door closer being able to get the door closed. These condo buildings or situations are doors that in my opinion quite honestly are neglected. The exterior doors of a parking garage or the doors that you exit out of. People just want to get out and get through. They don’t own that door; it is a sort of community space. The condo association however says that the heating bill was $18 million dollars last month, what can we do about it? A lot of people love this angled bristle because that door can make contact with the face of this, have it bend over ever so slightly, get full contact across the entire face of the door and do so in such a way that is predictable reliable, repeatable. You can expect that it is going to seal very well. It doesn’t project off of the face of the frame very much, attractive sort of finish. National Guard allows you to buy this retainer and bristle separately should down the road this material become fatigued or damaged or vandalized, etc. So, the A626A this is an aluminum angled holder, a gray bristle, a clear anodized aluminum finish. This happens to be a 12″ sample piece, although it is not a sample piece, it is going to a client who is weather-stripping tiny little windows that they have. There are all of these windows in a wall and they need to weather-strip them and they are using this material to do so. Something small like that we generally have to specify how many holes we want. The factory is not used to dealing with 12″ lengths, they like 3′ lengths. Screws would be included of course. Slotted holes are of course the way that those are actually made. You want to be able to have the ability to tailor that so that you get the right amount of contact with the face of the door or in this case the window so that you get the seal but you don’t cause a situation when the door is not properly latching all of the time. Also, that slotted hole will help compensate for a miss drilled hole. When you are drilling into wood, aluminum or fiberglass and have not used a center punch, that drill bit has a tendency to walk a little bit before it pierces through and that slotted hole really allows you to tailor that for a miss drilled hole as well. National Guard is a full line manufacturer of all things weather-stripping related, not only perimeter gasketing like this. People will also use this as a door sweep as well and the reason actually is they may have a condition where the door closes and their threshold is shaped like that where the face of the door is. people like that sweep to come up and just touch against it like this rather then something straight that will get very much bent over because of how the threshold is and where the door sits. Also, people use this as weather-stripping on overhead doors. Not necessarily this short profile, National Guard has a longer profile but the jambs on overhead doors feature an angle sort of weather-stripping, I should have mentioned that earlier. They are a full line manufacturer of all things weather-stripping related. The very name of National Guard Products is synonymous with weather-stripping, thresholds, door sweeps, gasketing, material made of aluminum like this, dark bronze; pardon me architectural bronze, stainless steel. This is also available in a dark bronze finish and in that case you would get a black bristle. They also have a full line of steel vision frames for use in wood and metal doors.
