This is a video that I recorded on 5/22/2014 of my 2010 Honda Civic LX.
As you can see there is a water leak in the interior of the car. Anytime that it rains, water leaks through the top section of the driver’s Side Curtain Airbag.
After notifying Honda Motors via Twitter (Honda Customer Svc @HondaCustSvc) several weeks ago when I noticed the problem, I took the vehicle to Sloane Honda in Philadelphia to assess the problem; however, they were not able to replicate the water leak. Therefore, the problem was not corrected and continues. I provided still pictures of the problem to both Sloane Honda and Honda Motors when I first noticed the water leak.
Because of the age of the car, it is no longer under warranty; however, the vehicle only has about 28k original miles on it and I am the first owner. The car has not gotten in any accidents.
One of my biggest concern is the water corrosion that will likely occur with the Side Curtain Airbag which would prevent it from functioning in a crash. This is definitely a safety concern.
If you have a Honda with a similar problem, please let me know via my E-Mail (email@example.com), notify Honda Motors via Twitter (Honda Customer Svc @HondaCustSvc) of the issue and consider making a report with the government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/index.xhtml).
I will be making a report shortly of this incident.
Update (5/3/2015): The issue involves the clogging of the vinyl/plastic trim pieces that run on the roof of the vehicle. At least one person has informed me that the issue was resolved in their vehicle after removing the roof trimming and clearing the drain holes, prior to placing them back using epoxy. I am still encouraging everyone to file complaints with Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration since the water may corrode the side airbag system and prevent it from working during an accident. A success story on fixing the problem follows:
Here is what one viewer (Aakash Dev) posted:
Forget of going to Honda, i solved it myself friends.

Recently i had this problem of slight water drops forming inside the driver and passenger side of pillars.
I fixed it and it was damn easy (i feel this method can be used for other cars as well)
1. Open the external roof trim, the black plastic trims running on the roof. (insert flat head screwdriver and lift up gently, better cover with cloth to save the paint)
2. Cleaned it thoroughly with water and a toothbrush, never expected solid dirt and dead leaves inside.
3. After thorough cleaning could see very tiny cracks inside, so thats the trouble.
4. Bought some M-Seal Super from Pidilite(India) [Outside India you can get the stuff which stops water leaks etc.) , it has 2 materials in one packet, black and green, took 1 pinch from both, mixed it well was bit sticky like gum.
5. Applied properly over the cracks and let it dry for 2-3 hours, becomes rock solid.
6. And then refitted the trims, it is raining damn heavy in Mumbai, India since last week but water has stopped coming in
7. Remember not to put thick coat as it will be difficult to refit the trims.
No need to do anything from inside, DIY.
Time : 1 Hour
Cost : M-Seal Rs.20/-. (Less 1/3rd of a $)
