Truck Wraps and Car Wraps are TOO EXPENSIVE!! Before you spend thousands of dollars on a truck wrap- consider this low cost way to install high quality truck graphics onto almost any box truck or trailer!
Want to put graphics onto your truck box or trailer? This quick and easy installation can be done in under an hour and at a fraction of the cost of expensive truck wraps. Using your work truck is a great way to advertise. Whether you have a trailer or box truck, advertising your business with a truck banner is an excellent marketing tool that is cost effective and works even when your truck is not.
I’ve been in the sign business for years and had a customer clue me into this easy method to install a sign onto a truck. I still sell truck & car wraps and sometimes they are the best product for a customers needs. But this is a much less expensive and a far simpler way to go compared to fleet wraps. You can literally put these kind of truck signs on an entire fleet for the cost of a single truck wrap.
You will need several tools and materials that you can easily find at you local hardware store-
1-Aluminum Carpet Trim about 2 inches wide and metal screws
2-Heavy Duty Adhesive Tape
4-A Chop Saw (a hacksaw will work also)
5- A power drill and a screwdriver
In summary, you will be mounting your banner onto the trailer with heavy duty tape and then building a frame around the banner with strips of aluminum carpet trim that has been cut to size. You will then drill small holes through the trim frame, tape and into the box metal to secure the banner,
After cleaning the truck box or trailer, measure to determine what size of banner can be used. You will want to allow a little space between the top of the aluminum trim and the framing of the box itself. Allow space for any safety equipment like reflectors or the gas cap if a truck.
STEP ONE- Tape the top of the banner into place
STEP TWO- Level the top strip of aluminum trim and screw into place
STEP THREE- Pull the banner taut and tape the bottom edges
STEP FOUR- Finish by screwing the side and bottom strips of trim into place.
The heavy duty tape provides the initial adhesion to the truck box. the metal screws are then driven in at an angle away from the center of the graphic to provide a tightening effect. The aluminum carpet trim is great because it works as a protection against any wind shear and is light enough to be taped into place while you are starting to work.
This wasn’t included in the video, but I also like to take a tube of clear silicon gel and seal the top strip of aluminum over the truck banner. Though the strip may already be tight, I think it is important to take this extra step to prevent water seepage onto the truck billboard.
