Three geeky, thirty-something women — all lifelong friends — decide to break the monotony of their boring lives and take a vacation to South Padre, a popular Spring Break destination. Before they leave, however, Becky, who works for a senator, is asked to keep an eye on her boss’ daughter, Lindsay, to make sure that the supposedly wild child does not get too out of control on Spring Break. But when Becky and her friends discover that Lindsay is not the party animal she seems, and is in fact even geekier than themselves, they realize that this is the perfect time to act like the wild girls they always wanted to be. Our laminate flooring installation expert with Swiss Krono, talks about gluing laminate floor planks and demonstrates the proper technique.
As Brad explains, your laminate floor system is a “glueless” system, but there are a few conditions where you might consider gluing planks. For example, a mudroom where you come in with snow on your boots or an area 5 ft. immediately in front of a water source like in a bath or a kitchen. Brad cautions that it’s difficult (but not impossible for a professional) to replace a damaged, glued laminate plank, if something heavy were to drop from a pantry and ding a plank.
Always use a PVA Type II Glue. Some wood glues have too much moisture in them.
Choose one in a bottle that can regulate the amount of glue that comes out because you’ll need very little glue to get the job done.
Brad recommends putting the glue on top of the tongue — not in the groove. This limits the amount of glue you need and it’s up closer to the surface and acts as a barrier to topical moisture.
Some glue will ooze up and that’s perfectly natural. You can let it harden and dry and then scrape off with a plastic putty knife or you can just wipe up. Get all of it so you don’t leave a glue haze. On a bevel-edged product, be sure to get the glue out of the bevel. Let it dry for 24 hours and you’re done!
