This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko 3452APK. This is a mill finish aluminum door bottom sweep. This is definitely not vinyl and is Pemko prene. This is their proprietary performance, higher performance compared to vinyl. 3452 is representative of the profile of the item and the A means mill aluminum finish. Its also available in a clear anodized, gold, bright dipped gold, satin nickel, painted white, dark bronze. The PK is Pemko Prene. This sill material and very durable. You get the sense that its substantial and you can see as I push it over its not very flexible and that would be a positive attribute for this item. This 3452 incorporates the ever so elegant drip cap. For the people that know are extremely effective at helping driving water away from the face of the door so that if it gets down here where the door is it’s that much closer to getting inside. If you drive off this dimension of 9/16″ its significant . You will see drip caps installed on exterior doors in both commercial and residential applications. These are always a good choice on exterior doors and I can’t make an argument for not using one quite frankly, short of there being a conflict with hardware or a door stop. But even with that case you do have to notch that if its for an in swinging around your stop, but the amount of protection it gives you is well worth the work. Dimensionally lets go over that. There is an image below this video showing everything important about it. You can see that the extrusion is 1-1/4″ tall and you have another 1/4″ so that will make it 1-1/2″ overall height. And the projection is 1/2″ not 9/16″ like I said earlier. What I like about this design is that is features this part of the Pemko prene sticks up against the face of the door itself so that when you tighten the item down against the face of the door you will have a seal behind the aluminum extrusion as well. This will help prevent any deflection when you tighten the anchors down or any bellowing, it will help prevent as well. Nice quality sweep. You will see this in commercial doors in the strip mall. Very common application for this. Not excessively large or the cheapest item, good middle of the road with something you can feel confident it will do its job sufficiently well. Available in several different lengths on the website. This is a 24″ standard sample piece but if you had a need for a special length, by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicating in the comment field what length you would like for us to cut the material back to. For instance if you need to take this 24″ piece and cut it down to 18″ for some reason maybe you were doing a window. If you were to cut that item down you eliminate that slotted hole and that slotted hole is nice to have. Speaking of slotted holes it comes with screws in a complementary finish and are tucked behind the packaging here. They are #6-5/8″ typical screw. So if you order that custom length we will not only locate that slotted hole for the proper distance from the edge but the proper center to center as well. Its nice to have the slotted hole from the factory because it gives you that important ability to tailor the item against the sill that’s not level or a door that’s not plumb. It also give you the ability to compensate for a misdrilled hole when you predrill the holes for the screw, sometimes the drill has a tendency to walk a little bit unless you have used a center punch. Pemko is a full line manufacturer of all things weather stripping related not only common door sweeps like this but thresholds, perimeter gasketing, material made of aluminum like this one, stainless steel, architectural bronze.
