Professional tiler shows tiling tips, http://tilego.com/.
Cathal shows how to quickly set up and start tiling. Tiling a bathroom or shower has never been easier. TileGo makes the art of wall tiling faster, easier, more accurate and a lot safer. No wooden battens needed. Cathal was featured on the Dragons den and was offered an investment for this great idea. The conventional tile dates back to about 900BC, and the technique of fixing tiles to walls has not changed much since then. A level surface must be provided in order to start tiling. Very often, your floor or shower tray is not level! The most common method used to create this level surface, is to position a wooden batten (which is a long, thin strip of wood, used in construction and cabinet making) using a spirit level and then hammer it into a wall. Tiles are then laid on top of the batten and tiling begins. This method is dangerous, expensive and inconvenient. Safer
When securing wooden battens onto walls, it is necessary to use nails or screws. This is a high risk job which can lead to burst water pipes, pierced electrical wires, damaged air conditioning ducts, punctured vapour barriers and holes in the wall. For houses with solid wood floors the damage caused by a burst pipe can be very expensive. Not only will the floor have to be replaced, the skirting boards have to be removed and as a result all the walls redecorated not to mention replacing ceilings for when pipes are burst upstairs. Also piercing an electrical wire can lead to serious injury.
TileGO adheres securely to the surface of the wall, totally removing the need for wooden battens and avoiding this type of catastrophic damage. After the tiles have set, TileGO can be easily pried from the wall and used again.
Tiling using traditional methods is a difficult balancing act; juggling spirit levels, wooden battens, hammer and nails, all at the same time. Fixing wooden battens to walls can be difficult; nails do not always go in straight and they can’t always get a fixing in plastered walls. The more mistakes you make, the more difficult it becomes to re-nail the batten. This can be very frustrating and time consuming, especially when in a confined space, say between a wall and a toilet wastepipe.
With TileGO there is no more juggling. You simply push, pull, slide and tile:
• Push it onto the wall.
• Pull the adhesive strip off.
• Slide the spirit level and adjust the position and begin Tiling!
When using traditional tiling methods, half your time is spent trying to locate the myriad of tools necessary just to get started. One shop stocks tiles, adhesive and grout and then another for nails, screws, hammer, screwgun, plaster and wooden battens necessary to start the job. So before you have even begun tiling, this has become a time-consuming and uneconomical process for a simple tiling job.
TileGO is available where and when you purchase your tiles — eliminating the time wasted on shopping and sourcing your materials. This patented tiling system is designed for ease of use, so you can set up a section of wall to start tiling in a fraction of the time compared to securing wooden battens with nails or screws. For DIY users and smaller tradesmen, buying the various tools and materials needed to tile a room can be very expensive for a once-off job.
TileGO will sell at about the same price as a planed piece of wood and a box of nails from a DIY chain, level included! After the tiles have set, TileGO can be easily pried from the wall and used again. Each TileGo strip can be used up to six times which means just one 2m length can be used to tile a good size bathroom.
Fixing wooden battens over hard surfaces such as rendered brick walls, existing tiles or in cramped spaces can be very awkward, frustrating and time consuming.
Our patented slide level insures accuracy. TileGO sticks exactly where you want it, ready to start tiling. For smaller spaces, TileGO can be cut to fit the job. All you need is an ordinary breadknife!
When using wooden battens, tilers often have to deal with holes in the plaster before they can continue tiling. Nails and screws can become lose their purchase in old plaster.
The types of adhesive used in TileGO are commonly found in aircraft assembly and create a super strong bond in seconds but after the tiles have set, TileGO can be easily pried from the wall and used again.
