‘Remove and re-seat a washing machine door/drum seal on a front loader’.
As I said before, the machine is unplugged before any work is carried out.
Basically most front-loading washing machines use similar method to locate the door/drum seal to the outer washing machine cover. In this video, you’ll notice a spring wire retainer that sits in a channel around the rubber seal which is then retained by a plastic clip at the top. Some doors may differ so check yours first. Once the metal retainer ring is removed, the rubber lip is pulled away and inwards towards the centre of the drum to pull it off the lip that forms part of the front machine cover. Once off, just push it into the drum to enable the front cover* or any seal drainage holes to be cleared of debris. To keep your washing machine smelling sweet, don’t just mask it with machine cleaners but make sure any seal drainage holes are clean and free draining – otherwise water pools up and stagnates which can also make any clean washing stagnant as well.
*In order to remove the complete rubber drum to door seal, one would have to remove the entire front panel since the inner part of the seal (the bit that contacts the rotating drum) is normally fixed using a large diameter retainer strap which cannot be seen unless front cover is removed.
