Decorative wall paneling can transform any room and on top of adding that extra flair it is easy and affordable. Paneling can transform a bathroom, family room, office and even a dining room. The products needed for this project will be a stud finder, circuit tester, a square, circular saw, jig saw, pry bar, screwdriver, drill with bits, construction adhesive, caulk, caulk gun, paintable caulk, panel, baseboards and a nail gun with nails.
For this project we will be using beaded plank paneling. Before starting this project, measure the area of your room to calculate how much paneling and molding you will need. Measure the height you wish for the panels and mark the line on the wall.
As you begin to install the paneling, if you wish to paint, this would be the time to do so. The first pieces you will need to install are the baseboards. These baseboards are special paneling baseboards with a lip so that the paneling can lay on the inner lip. Cut to size, apply construction adhesive to the back and use a nail gun to nail to the wall. Once installed, you can begin to install the panels. Simply cut the panels to size, apply adhesive and install groove to tongue between each panel. If there is an obstruction such as a window or outlet simply measure, mark and cut wit a jig saw.
Once the baseboard and paneling are glued and nailed in place, finish off the project with the chair rail. Like before, measure, apply adhesive and nail down. Use a caulk gun and paintable caulk and apply in the crease between the chair rail and the wall. When finished you will have a new updated wall that will bring color and texture to your room.
