This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko 90041CSB. This is a clear anodized soft brush door sweep is what this is. The 90041 is representative of this profile where it is an aluminum holder that is at a 90 degree orientation to the seal material. The 90041 is representative of this profile. The C means it is clear anodized aluminum. If you are using this on the bottom of a door where it is really never going to be seen, that may be of less importance to you in terms of what the finish is, although I’ve had people use these in other applications where the finish was important. I’ve had people use these in unorthodox applications where they had double egress doors and they used these symmetrically opposite to each other as astragals that could provide a seal that was not fire rated naturally. The C means clear anodized. Also available also in a gold anodized aluminum and a dark bronze as well. The SB means soft brush and that is the important part down here. Now first of all, I want to point out that there is a tag on the backside here that says to remove thread after installation. That is referring to the small amount of thread that is here. As I pull it, you can see what happens. It gives you that small soft little pile that is there. There is an image below this video showing everything important dimensionally about the item, lets go over it now. You can see that the width of the item is 1″. The projection of the entire unit is 5/8″, a 1/4″ of it is aluminum, and 3/8″ is the soft brush. When you do a clear anodized finish, you are going to have a grey brush, and the gold or the dark bronze; you would have a black soft brush. This is designed to seal the gap between the bottom of the door and the top of the threshold or floor surface. People will use a soft brush when there is a polished floor. You can have a residential application where there is Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring and over time, you don’t want your door sweep eroding or wearing off the finish on the top of the floor, that would be an application for this. Available in many lengths on the website. There is an availability of this everywhere from 2′ to 8′ on the website and you can order any length. You can also order a custom length as well. If you have need for a custom length, by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicate in the comment field what length you would like for us to cut the material back to. The reasoning is if you had to take this 48″ piece and cut it down to say 42″ you would eliminate that slotted hole that is there. The next one is all the way over here. It is nice to have the slotted holes in these extrusions from the factory because it will allow you the ever so critical amount of lateral adjustment to get the piece exactly located exactly where you need. Not every sill is level, and not every door is plumb, so the ability to adjust is crucial especially if you are using this in some unorthodox fashion like an astragal giving that laterally on the edge of the door is incredibly important to do. Now it is not a significant issue if you don’t have the ability to cut this, so we can order it cut to length, but the problem is if you cut this down and eliminate that slotted hole it is naturally difficult drilling a slotted hole. So if you order a custom length, we will not only locate that first slotted hole at the proper distance from the edge, but the proper center to center as well. Speaking of those slotted holes, screws are included in a complementary finish. The soft brush is very commonly seen in exterior applications on aluminum doors. You will see a soft bristle installed into the edge of an aluminum door, a soft brush like this or a pile is sometimes what it is called. It is flexible to 40 degrees below zero and a very high amount above normal temperatures. UV stabilized dependable, long lasting, cost effective and a very typical item. Pemko is a comprehensive manufacturer of all things weatherstripping related, not only door sweeps or door bottoms like this but thresholds, perimeter gasketing, material made of aluminum like this, stainless steel, and architectural bronze as well.
