Fitting your Roller blind
Before you start, check you have your brackets
Your blind brackets are packed separately at the end of the box. Check you’ve taken them out before you throw the packaging away. You can fit your Web-Blinds roller blind in a few straightforward steps. Just do these in order and you’ll soon have your new blind up.
1 Fitting your blind outside the window (exact fitting)
To make sure the centre of the rail is precisely in the middle of your window, the measurements at either end (C) need to be the same.
To work out C:
• measure the width of the window (measurement B). Write down the measurement.
• measure the width of the blind (measurement A). Write down the measurement.
Take measurement B away from measurement A and divide the answer by 2 to get measurement C.
Now follow steps 2 and 3 then the instructions for face fixing.
Fitting your blind inside the window (recess fitting)
You need to decide whether to face fix or top fix your blind.
Top fix your blind to the lintel if:
• you have uPVC window frames, or
• there are obstructions like handles Face fix your blind if:
• you want to fit the bracket to the window frame
Slide the idle end pin upwards between the teeth of the idle end pin bracket until it clicks into place
Put the brackets into the corresponding ends of the blind as shown below, then move the blind into the position where you’d like it to hang in your window.
Now mark the position of the holes for drilling.
Remember there are 2 holes per bracket
Drill 2 holes per bracket where marked 4 and screw the brackets into place.
Take the idle end pin out of the bracket and put it in the end of the blind. Then insert the blind into the bracket
Holding the fully-wound blind, get the chain cap into position with the chain hanging downwards as shown below, and press the cap into the chain end bracket. Gently pull the chain to raise and lower the blind.
In this video I am going to show you how to fit a roller blind
Now when you get your blind you get a number accessories with it too
including these brackets
now they are different and I’m going to explain which end goes where
You’ll notice at one end of your blind you will have either a star or a cross and the other end will have a circle
its important you get the brackets around the right way
the bracket with the little tongue sticking out goes in the end with a star or a cross
make sure you dont get that muddled up
the other one of course will got the other end
and to accompany it is a little piece of plastic here
thats called your idol end
I’ll show you that a little bit later on
in addition you get wall plugs and screws
but you’ll need to provide a drill with the appropriate sized bit
a tape measure, a pencil and a cross head screwdriver
now the first thing to do is offer up the blind to see how much room we have
because it’s very important you fit the brackets as accurately and as snuggly as possible
if they are too slack the blind could rattle from side to side
now you may recall when we measured up the blind
we mentioned obstructions such as window handles
anything in the path of the blind that could effect where the blind comes down
so we are now going to bring our brackets forward and I am going to measure
how far this window handle sticks out
and measuring that its about 3.5cms
so I’m going to make an allowance of 4cms away from the window frame
to make sure the back of the blind doesn’t catch on that handle
so i’m going to measure up at the top 4cm
and put a little pencil mark
I’m going to do the same over here
and now I know that the back of the bracket needs to clear the 4cm mark
I can then hold it into position and make my marks
incidentally the bracket will work either way up.
that way for face fixing if you’re mounting it up here
or as I’m doing as a top fix they go that way round
so lets offer up this bracket. Here’s my pencil mark 4cm
and make 2 little marks on the top of the recess
Once you are happy with that its time to make your holes
With that done we are now ready to put in the brackets
Right with the brackets in position its time to put the blind up
once you have removed all the packaging you’ll have to put this little plastic bracket in the end with the circular hole
the other end you want to slot in first
and this side slides in from the underside
with that clipped into place there is just one more thing to do
and that is to install the safety device
now this loops over some of the chain
and you fix it to the wall with a couple of screws
once you’ve done that its ready to use
and thats how to fit a roller blind
